Rooted in Japan’s sixth-century tradition of onsen bathing, Amanemu’s 2,000-square-metre spa embraces the restorative power of water. Designed around a vast hot-spring bath fed by mineral-rich waters of Ise-Shima, the spa takes a holistic approach, fusing Japanese healing practices with nature-inspired therapies from around the Aman world.

Japan has understood the healing power of mineral bathing since the days of the shogunate, when samurai would use onsen to restore their health and recover from the rigours of battle. As well as aiding in recovery from fatigue and injury and relieving pain, onsen bathing can improve general wellbeing. Enjoy the same restorative benefits as the samurai, with sessions in Amanemu spa's mineral-rich pools.
Traditional Chinese Medicine arrived in Japan in the 4th century and has since evolved to become the herb-based healing practice, Kampo. The discipline emphasises the importance of attaining balance between body and mind, with plant-derived cures and therapies at its heart. Amanemu’s spa treatments incorporate expert-blended Kampo formulations to achieve specific wellbeing goals.
Amanemu's experienced therapists develop bespoke spa experiences, combining organic blends from the Aman Skincare range, Kampo herbs and local essential oils with an array of treatments and techniques.

The onsen pools of the Amanemu Spa are fed by a nearby hot spring, which provides water that is naturally rich in healing minerals – the perfect complement to any spa therapy. Daybeds are positioned around the thermal spring garden, and two separate onsen pavilions provide space to take to the waters in comfort and privacy.

Inspired by the rhythms of Ise Shima’s natural surrounds, Amanemu’s anniversary journey begins with grounding ritual harnessing a blend of Japanese botanicals, blended from native flora and fauna, combined with warm forest herbs. The body softens as warmth and aroma ease tension and invite calm, accompanied by flowing massage techniques inspired by ocean movement.Amanemu’s natural hot spring water head treatment follows, a signature moment that quiets the mind and deepens clarity.

Inspired by the Shikinen Sengu, a sacred ritual of Ise Grand Shrine, this program combines six yoga sessions with six treatments to gently guide body and mind to better align with the elements and chakras, uncovering an innate rhythm.

Through the traditional Shinto ritual dance passed down through generations, this lesson offers an opportunity to connect with local culture. Based on the Asahi-mai, a dance that honours the blessings of life and nature, practice a series of elegant motions in harmony with the sounds of gagaku (ancient court music).

Forest bathing offers a chance to step into nature to let go of thoughts and gently reconnect with your body and mind. As you walk and breathe in the vitality of the greenery, meditation and breathing exercises create an overall feeling of calm.

In the Aman Spa’s private onsen pavilions, new medicinal baths blend Japan’s traditional hot spring culture with the healing properties of herbs and botanicals of Japanese Kampo philosophy. Three types of therapeutic baths are based on Eastern medicine’s essential elements, designed to suit each guests’ needs and preferences.

Traditional Japanese therapies, acupuncture and shiatsu help regulate the nervous system, enhance the body’s natural healing and benefit mental wellness and anti-aging.
While shiatsu involves applying pressure mainly with the fingers and palms to relax muscle tension and restore the body’s balance, acupuncture treatments consider the condition of the entire body. Moxibustion is also offered, using dried mugwort (moxa) to apply direct or indirect thermal stimulation to the skin in turn warming the body and promoting the flow of Qi (energy) to alleviate various ailments.

Designed to harmonise with the annual rhythms of nature, Amanemu’s seasonal spa journeys use different kampo herbal formulations and local ingredients to achieve specific wellness goals in line with the needs of the season.

For guests who wish to explore Immersions without committing to a multi-day programme, spa specialists will devise a personalised itinerary offering a condensed Immersion experience.

Made in Japan, Aman’s new functional skincare line, Essential Skin, is infused with powerful rice bran and indigo extracts, to achieve noticeably lifted, more radiant skin. Combining products from the Essentials Skin line with exfoliation and manual lifting techniques, the Aman Advanced Facial stimulates face muscles to improve the skin’s overall texture.
The treatment begins with ultrasonic scrubbing to loosen and remove oil and debris from the pores. Supported by electric muscle stimulation and massage to firm, and cryo bulbs to eliminate puffiness, the complexion appears brighter and tighter. The treatment continues with the application of a marine mineral mask to deeply hydrate, followed by Aman x 111Skin Nourishing Gold Algae hydrogel face and eye masks to achieve an exceptional glow. For a wholly rejuvenation process, the facial can be extended to incorporate a 15-minute scalp massage.
