Following the Mecaru Ceremony, a Baleganjur procession will take place, encircling the resort with the powerful rhythms of a traditional Balinese ensemble. As the hypnotic beats resonate through the resort, they mark the transition into a period of stillness and renewal, leading up to the sacred Day of Silence. 

On the eve of Nyepi, the peaceful surrounds of Sengkidu village transform into a lively spectacle with the Ogoh-Ogoh Parade - one of Bali's most anticipated traditions. Towering, intricately crafted figures symbolising ngeative forces are carried through the streets, accompanied by the rhythmic sounds of gamelan. This ritual is believed to drive away malevolent spirits before the island enters a day of total stillness.  

This exhibition features Nyoman Erawan’s dynamic abstract works, characterised by vertical rectangles of  melted colours and horizontal strokes that create a striking contrast on the canvas. The “Untitled” theme emphasises the open-ended nature of Erawan’s art, allowing for diverse perspectives and meanings. His integration of Balinese traditional iconography with contemporary abstract forms enables imaginative and metaphorical interpretations, transcending formalistic roots to present a rich tapestry of rhythm, contrast and harmony that challenges conventional notions of meaning and universality. 

A time of renewal and reflection, the Balinese lunar calendar marks the occurrence of a full moon or Purnama with unique ceremonies across the island. Perched atop Indrakila Hill, Amankila celebrates each full moon with an immersive cultural and culinary experience. Partake in the tranquil joy of meditation, blessings and Balinese dance, accompanied by a gamelan orchestra. Evening also features a visit to Pasar Senggol—a Balinese night market showcasing local flavours and traditional Balinese crafts.

In the traditional Balinese Saka Calendar, the new year is marked by Nyepi. A Hindu celebration designed to cleanse the previous year’s negative energy and prepare for a positive year ahead, Nyepi – New Year’s Day – sees the island of Bali at its most serene, with traffic silenced and many taking part in fasting, alongside abstention from work and forms of entertainment.

Piodalan or Odalan is a traditional village celebration observed throughout Bali, marking the anniversary of the consecration of a mrajan (family temple) or a palinggih (sacred shrine). During Odalan, public temples are adorned with vibrant fabrics and coconut-based decorations, including penjor, alongside an array of artistic offerings.

During Galungan and Kuningan in Bali, a 10-day celebration takes place every 210 days according to the Hindu Saka Calendar. It is believed that during this period, all gods, including Ida Sang Hyang Widi, descend to earth to partake in the festivities. During this celebration, inspiring rituals and feasts adorned with offerings honor their presence.
