A series of sculptural works shaped from reclaimed wood, Vessels of the Earth present the forms which draw from observed natural structures, translated and reworked through carving. Each piece is unique with openings, grain and irregularities that are retained and adapted in the making. Each piece functions as a vessel while retaining a sculptural quality.

During Galungan and Kuningan in Bali, a 10-day celebration takes place every 210 days according to the Hindu Saka Calendar. It is believed that during this period, all gods, including Ida Sang Hyang Widi, descend to earth to partake in the festivities. During this celebration, inspiring rituals and feasts adorned with offerings honor their presence.

In the traditional Balinese Saka Calendar, the new year is marked by Nyepi. A Hindu celebration designed to cleanse the previous year’s negative energy and prepare for a positive year ahead, Nyepi – New Year’s Day – sees the island of Bali at its most serene, with traffic silenced and many taking part in fasting, alongside abstention from work and forms of entertainment.

Piodalan or Odalan is a traditional village celebration observed throughout Bali, marking the anniversary of the consecration of a mrajan (family temple) or a palinggih (sacred shrine). At Amandari's temple, the Odalan ceremony spans three-days and features traditional dance and orchestra performances, accompanied by blessings, prayer sessions, and a bustling Balinese food market.
