A New Year Celebration at Amanjiwo, Indonesia

Inspired by local traditions, this once-in-a-lifetime New Year’s Eve celebration takes place at Borobudur, a UNESCO World Heritage Site

Long before the new year was marked by fireworks and grand festivities, Javanese families welcomed life’s transitions through ritual – gathering in prayer, preparing offerings and giving thanks. Inspired by these traditions, Amanjiwo marks New Year’s Eve with a two-day journey of blessings, cultural performances and feasting atthe Buddhist temple of Borobudur, the first time the UNESCO World Heritage Site has held an experience of this kind. Underpinned by the notion of Memayu Hayuning Jiwa – meaning ‘towards a harmonious soul’ – this memorable celebration invites a moment to reflect, show appreciation and restore harmony before welcoming the year ahead.

Limited spaces available. Please note, the experience is available exclusively to guests of Amanjiwo.
