A varied landscape of rugged snow-capped mountains, parched desert dunes and winding coastline, Morocco has some of North Africa’s most diverse geography, all accessible from Amanjena. The ancient city of Marrakech radiates from its 12th-century medina, a red-walled former fortress crisscrossed by narrow lanes. Surrounding the city, the Palmeraie is an unexpectedly lush oasis that in turn gives way to the desert landscape, dotted with villages where little has changed for hundreds of years.

Adventures in the desert 

Just 40 minutes’ drive from Marrakech, embark on a thrilling off-road adventure to discover the starkly beautiful stony desert of Agafay. The heights of Atlas 

Rising from the sands of the Sahara 4,167 metres to the top of Jbel Toubkal, North Africa’s highest peak, the Atlas Mountains are one of the world’s most dramatic ranges. Ascend to Kasbah du Toubkal by car, helicopter or foot, and enjoy a picnic lunch with panoramic views, 1,800 metres above sea level. 

Golf in the desert 

Moments from Amanjena and the Old Town, the 27-hole Amelkis Golf Club is ranked as one of the finest in Morocco, known for the technical challenges posed by a number of its holes. Not far away Royal Golf Marrakech offers a narrower layout with lush vegetation and gardens that date back to the 1930. 

Sidecar experience

See the backstreets of Marrakech from the backseat of an open-air sidecar, navigating the city’s labyrinthine souks and surrounding streets, with two possible routes available: through the Medina, Gueliz and the Palmeraie, or to Dar el Sadaka, a sculpture park by French visual artist, Jean-François Fourtou.

Agafay Dining Experience

Whilst the sun sets against the backdrop of the Atlas Mountains, travel by camel across the lunar-landscaped desert to a secret destination.
