Derived from the Sanskrit word for ‘peace’, aman, and the name of the village the resort is situated in, Fayun, Amanfayun is a place of stone pathways and shaded courtyards.

Amanfayun is within easy reach of Shanghai Hongqiao Station by high-speed train as well as nearby Hangzhou International Airport (HGH).

Summers tend to be hot and humid, and winters are cool to cold, mostly dry with occasional snowfall. Spring and autumn enjoy mild and mostly warm weather. Winter temperatures range from 4°C to 12°C; in summer they vary from 21°C to 33°C.

What to pack

In spring and summer, light clothing is appropriate with a sweater or jacket in the evenings. From autumn through winter, down jackets, fleeces, hats and gloves are necessary. Sports shoes are suitable for light touring, and hiking boots are recommended for treks. Legs, shoulders and upper arms need to be covered when visiting places of worship.
