Resort

Amankila – meaning “peaceful hill” – overlooks the Lombok Strait from a cliff-edge setting. The resort is located near the village of Manggis in east Bali

Destination

On the east coast of Bali, Amankila is within easy reach of Denpasar airport (DPS), as well as the Amandari and Amanusa resorts

Weather

Bali enjoys a warm tropical climate year-round – the weather is particularly pleasant between June and September. Humidity is highest during the November to March rainy season, but the sun is rarely out of sight for long, even during the heaviest rains

What to pack

Light clothing is appropriate with a sweater or jacket for evenings. Sports shoes are suitable for light touring and a wide-brimmed hat is recommended during the day. Legs, shoulders and upper arms need to be covered when visiting places of worship

Language & Currency

Balinese and Bahasa Indonesian are the two main languages on the island; English, French, German and Japanese are increasingly spoken. The national currency is the rupiah, and US dollars are accepted in the main centres. Currency exchanges can be easily found and credit cards are accepted by larger establishments

Don’t Forget

Bali is on Central Indonesian Time (WITA), eight hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). Electricity is 220 volts at 50 cycles per second; converters and plug adaptors are available

Health

Medical services are available round the clock at Amankila. Reasonable precautions should be taken against mosquito-borne diseases

Visas

Please check with your nearest Indonesian embassy or consulate prior to travel. Visa requirements vary from country to country and the Amankila team can advise on the necessary procedures as well as assist with customs clearance at the airport

Notes

The Amankila team can advise on visas as well as assist with any other travel arrangements, including transfers and private flights
