The name Amanemu is derived from aman, the Sanskrit word for peace, and nemu, the Japanese word for sharing joy


Set on Japan’s east coast, Amanemu is nearest to Nagoya Chubu International Airport (NGO), while there is a heliport nearby


Japan enjoys all four seasons, with cherry blossoms usually at their best in late March and early April. The summer sees the largest amount of precipitation and humidity in Mie Prefecture, while autumn brings fresh, cool temperatures and light breezes. Winter is temperate, dry and often sunny

What to pack

Warm clothes are recommended during winter, while for the rest of the year light clothing is appropriate, with a sweater and rain gear. Sports shoes are suitable for light touring, and a wide-brimmed hat is recommended for summer days

By Land
Amanemu is easily accessible by car from all directions. Regular trains from Nagoya, Kyoto and Osaka run to Kashikojima Station in Shima, the nearest to the resort, where guests will be welcomed on arrival
By Air
The nearest airport is Nagoya Chubu International Airport (NGO), from which Amanemu is a two-and-a-half-hour drive or 25-minute helicopter ride
Language & Currency
The official language is Japanese, and English is not widely understood in the area. Japan’s currency is the yen. ATMs found at post offices and convenience stores allow the withdrawal of cash by credit and debit cards issued outside of Japan, but most others do not

...Japan is on Japan Standard Time (JST), nine hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). Electricity is 100 volts at 60 cycles per second; convertors as well as plug adaptors are available
Medical services are available at Amanemu. The nearest clinic, in the town of Shima, is a 15-minute drive from the resort

Please check with your nearest Japanese embassy or consulate prior to travel. While visas are required for most travellers visiting Japan, there are a number of countries that are exempt
