CULTURAL EVENTS

Bali's Hindu culture makes for a fascinating calendar of festival and ritual. Guests staying at Amandari have the opportunity to be fully immersed in these events, with a series of experiences on offer that will expand their understanding and create lasting memories of Ubud and its surroundings.

27–29 MARCH MARKS THE BALINESE NEW YEAR AND NYEPI DAY, A DAY OF SELF REFLECTION

In harmony with the island, which observes a day of silence, guests will be able to take part in yoga and meditation sessions with the Amandari team. Come evening, join the Ogoh-Ogoh parade along Kedewatan road, before returning for a special dinner to celebrate Bali's New Year.

FROM 10 TO 12 APRIL, EXPERIENCE THE ANNUAL PIODALAN TEMPLE CEREMONY WITH THE AMANDARI FAMILY

Join staff and the village community in the three-day ritual of purification commemorating the 'birth' of the temple. Involving holy water, chanting, traditional dance displays, offerings and blessings, it is a chance to engage in a truly traditional side of Bali.

GUESTS STAYING BETWEEN 4 & 15 APRIL WILL ENCOUNTER BALI'S GALUNGAN AND KUNINGAN HOLIDAY

This family-centred festival is an annual highlight involving much preparation. The Balinese people return to their ancestral homes for a holiday that involves symbolic decorations and offerings, feasting on traditional dishes, and gifts of new clothes.
