Resting in the foothills of the Menoreh HIlls with inspirational views of Borobudur, Amanjiwo is perfectly placed to offer an immersive, culturally and spiritually enriching experience of Vesak, the most important of all Buddhist festivals. Marking the major milestones of Buddha's life, the festival is a joyous event filled with processions, chanting and the releasing of lanterns as a symbolic act of letting go and welcoming the new.
Amanjiwo guests can join in local events such as the procession from Mendut to Borobudur, as well as experience personal spiritual moments such as the receiving of robes and a blessing by monks before a special Vesak banquet on 3 June. Other inclusions range from breakfast at Gubuk Sawah, Amanjiwo's open-air pavilion in the countryside to a lecture by Amanjiwo's resident anthropologist on Buddha's enlightenment.
