At the southern tip of Honshu’s Shima Peninsula, Ago Bay is renowned for its rugged beauty. Within a national park on its forested shores, the onsen retreat of Amanemu evokes spirit-stirring tranquility in naturally spectacular surroundings.
At a Glance
Far from the stresses of the city, Amanemu Residences are set within Ise-Shima National Park – a landscape dotted with Shinto shrines and coloured by the blue of the sea and the green of the forest.
A garden in the forest
The Residences have been designed to immerse their inhabitants in nature. Set apart from the main area of the resort, each one is surrounded by a vast garden of its own.
Inspired by Japanese tradition
Contemporary in aesthetic, traditional in inspiration, the Residence’s architecture by Kerry Hill pays tribute to the minka homes of historic Japanese villages, at one with the landscape around them.
Hot-spring bathing, indoors and out
In keeping with Japan’s ancient wellness culture, the Residences are designed to take advantage of Amanemu’s mineral-rich hot springs, with each one containing private onsen baths inside and out.
The Villas
Built around a private onsen, the 2-bedroom Residences are designed to embrace the outdoors and make the most of natural light. Interiors are warm, soothing and understated, with understated materials such as plain woods and local stone to enhance the naturally restful atmosphere of the setting.
