Steps from the East Gate of the Summer Palace, Aman Summer Palace is ideally placed to explore both the history and energy of the Chinese capital

Dining at Aman Summer Palace

Restaurants are open to guests and non-residents

Spread across the heritage-imbued grounds of Aman Summer Palace, the restaurants serve cuisine from across the continent and globe: the Ming Dynasty-inspired Chinese Restaurant features Cantonese cuisine as well as Imperial dishes; the Japanese Restaurant's set menus offer French-Japanese fusion; and the Grill is home to prime cuts of meat cooked with western techniques. Meals can also be arranged in private dining rooms.

Classic dishes such as Peking duck and Szechuan chicken are cooked with great delicacy at the nine-room chinese restaurant

Echoing ancient Imperial meals, the menus across the restaurants comprise choices for all palates, including crispy pork skin and stir-fried fish with asparagus, as well as the Japanese Restaurant's sea bream sashimi and green lobster salad

The delicate flavours and aromas of a tea ceremony remain central to the centuries-old ritual

Tea itself, whether in a formal or relaxed setting, is part of daily life and is served – in an abundance of varieties – every afternoon at Aman Summer Palace

Enjoy an after-dinner digestif in the Bar in the Reflection Pavilion

An extensive selection of liquors allows for the perfect match, be it with a single-malt whisky, cognac or aged tawny port
