Summer in the city
From the sprawling metropolises of New York and Tokyo to the 100-island capital of Italy’s Veneto region, Aman’s urban sanctuaries come alive in the summer months.
Up to 18 guests can join this exclusive expedition through three continents. Beginning in Japan, the 20-night journey takes in sake tastings and geisha-led experiences in Kyoto, before setting off for Palawan’s prided beaches in the Philippines and Borobudur’s Unesco-listed temples in Indonesia. A seaplane ride covers the journey to the Maldives, where island life allows time to indulge in yacht excursions and dolphin-spotting adventures. Oman is next, rounding off the Asia portion of the trip, before Venice’s palazzo-lined canals and Marrakech’s spice-filled souks.

Destination 1: Japan
Secret tree-filled gardens and pavilions in tranquil glades set the scene at sanctuary-like Aman Kyoto – a secluded onsen retreat, who’s only near neighbour is the Kinkaku-ji golden temple. Omakase cuisine is served by Chef Shinichirō Takagi in Taka-An, while The Living Pavilion covers authentic Kyoto dishes, served on the hotel’s forest-bathed terrace. Minimalist ryokan-style rooms are a retreat from the world, while mineral-fed onsen baths in the Aman Spa guide guests through Japan’s prided bathing ritual. Day-long cultural tours, a traditional sake tasting, a geisha-led encounter and a teppanyaki dinner are all included beyond the resort’s tranquil grounds.
Destination 2: Philippines
Destination 3: Indonesia
After days of relaxation, the journey continues onwards to the cultural highlights of Central Java and Amanjiwo, overlooking Unesco-guarded Borobudur. From this privileged perch, there’s chance to explore the world’s largest Buddhist temple complex entirely free from crowds, with bespoke backstage excursions. A morning trek through rice paddies to the 8th-century Hindu temple of Selogriyo is also included. Back at Amanjiwo, the resort centres around a lofty hilltop rotunda, where resort-grown Javanese meals are served. Steps slope down to a pool where indolent afternoons can be spent, cooling off against a bottle-green backdrop of tropical flora.
Destination 4: Maldives
A stylish seaplane ride over a necklace of coral-ringed islands covers the journey into the Maldives. For the next three nights, home is an over-water villa with a private pool and a spoiling sun deck on Muravandhoo Island, encircled by the Indian Ocean and its abundant marine life. On the final day, a yacht excursion and dolphin-spotting adventure explores the nearby reaches of Raa Atoll with lunch included in an idyllic location. Two Asian-accented restaurants and a bar with a menu by a Michelin-starred chef are on hand for other meals.
Destination 5: Salalah, Oman
The diversity of Asia comes into view today with a transfer from the tropics to the dune-trailed trim of the continent. Touch down in Oman gives way to the sandy beaches of Salalah on the edge of the Arabian Sea. Cocktails and dinner await on the first night, followed by a stay in a beach-view villa overlooking a private expanse of sand. There’s free time to explore nearby Unesco-steeped ruins, or the piercing blue pools and waterfalls of Wadi Darbat, before delving into the Ayurveda-inspired spa and a host of restaurants.
Destination 6: Italy
Destination 7: Morocco
The rose-hued walls of the Red City mark a romantic end point to this airborne odyssey. As a fitting finale, the stay amid palatial Amanjena’s petal-filled fountains and peaceful courtyards includes dinner and cocktails on the first night with a local history expert, who’ll elucidate the hidden stories of Morocco’s most beguiling city. Rise next morning for a hot-air balloon ride in the Atlas foothills before a full day’s immersion into Marrakech’s maze of spice-stacked souks, art-filled gardens and minaret-topped mosques. A farewell dinner and drinks ends Aman’s private-jet expedition in style.
