Timing is everything at the site’s main temple. Waking early to capture the atmosphere as the sun rises is Amansara’s preferred way to see this magnificent monument. Bayon Temple is an architectural masterpiece located within the Angkor Thom complex inside the Archaeological Park. It was built in the late 12th or early 13th century by King Jayavarman VII, the renowned Khmer king. What sets Bayon apart are the gigantic stone faces carved into its towers, believed to represent Buddhist deity Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara or King Jayavarman VII himself.

Known as ‘the jungle temple’, Ta Prohm's sturdy stones stand entwined with the silk-cotton and strangler fig-tree roots of the encroaching forest. One of the most popular and photogenic temples in the Archaeological Park, it was once home to 615 apsara dancers, according to this temple’s carved records. Ta Prohm provides the rare opportunity to witness man’s attempt to tame nature, all set against the glowing rays of the sun.
