The Journey Begins in Java
On arrival in Indonesia’s capital, the spiritual retreat of Amanjiwo can be reached via a short 60-minute flight to Yogyakarta or via the regal Kereta Api Wisata train. A seven-hour journey through spectacular scenery, the resort's resident anthropologist shares tales of Javanese history and mythology along the way.

Getting There
Daily domestic flights are available to Yogyakarta from Jakarta, while direct international flights operate from Singapore and Malaysia. One of the most accessible destinations in Indonesia, Bali can be reached from several major cities in Asia and Australia with travellers from Europe and North America flying via the Middle East or Singapore.
Language
Bahasa Indonesia is the official national language of Indonesia and is used throughout the archipelago. English is widely used in Bali and Jakarta and is increasingly spoken on lesser-known islands. Other languages used in each of Aman destinations are Javanese, Balinese and Sumbawanese.
Festivals
There are a variety of festivals in Indonesia’s annual calendar; from Nyepi Day in Bali to Vesak Day rituals in Borobudur, Central Java. Events take place at each resort to celebrate such occasions – from multi-course dining experiences to performances from local artists.
Climate
Indonesia enjoys a warm, tropical climate year-round. The weather is particularly pleasant from June to September. The wet season runs from November to March, but even during the heaviest rain, the sun is rarely out of sight for long. The average temperature is 27.2°C (81°F).
