Journeys with Aman
New landscapes unfold through Aman’s multi-destination journeys.
Amanzoe, Greece
22 May to 31 October 2026
On a private Peloponnese peninsula, where ancient, lavender-scented hillside meets the Aegean Sea, Amanzoe rests peacefully. A modern-day acropolis surrounded by awe-inspiring beauty, the resort continues to deepen its connection to Greece’s heritage through Life Cycles. The landmark summer exhibition, it is created in collaboration with the celebrated Zoumboulakis Galleries.

From 22 May to 31 October 2026, Life Cycles reveals itself across Amanzoe's colonnaded walkways, tranquil gardens and terraces; a curated presentation of contemporary sculpture and drawing by leading Greek female artists. Throughout the season, the exhibition promotes artistic encounters as part of the daily routine, pushing the boundaries of traditional gallery settings.
Bringing works by Marina Karella, Alexandra Athanassiades, Nikomachi Karakostanoglou and Despina Flessa together for the very first time, Life Cycles offers an intergenerational dialogue exploring the complex notions of continuity, evolution and the eternal.
A collaboration rooted in a shared philosophy, Life Cycles reflects Aman’s ongoing commitment to connecting guests with the culture of its destinations, and Zoumboulakis Galleries’ longstanding dedication to championing Greek artists. Here, art and nature intertwine, forming an engaging guest experience.
Designed by late architect, Ed Tuttle, Amanzoe’s bold geometry and panoramic sea views serve as a contemplative canvas for the presentation. The resort’s generosity of space further adds to the experience, offering a platform for organic discovery. Rather than existing in isolation, works become a part of the resort’s lived experience, inviting guests to engage intuitively with each work with changing perspectives, as light shifts from dawn to dusk.
Dotted across the lavender gardens, Alexandra Athanassiades introduces works from her Armour and Horses series. Known for her hand-hammered sculptural techniques, she investigates themes of resilience, identity and transformation. Her layered compositions respond to the surrounding rural landscape, their textured surfaces echoing the passage of time and the enduring dialogue between interior and exterior worlds.

Elsewhere, in the Library and adjoining terrace, Marina Karella presents sculptural works that explore light, shadow and drapery, motifs deeply rooted in the Grecian aesthetic. With decades of international recognition, her practice bridges classical reference and postmodern sensibility with works such as The Gold Cloth and Hibiscus encapsulating tension between the ephemeral and the eternal, where form becomes a vessel for memory and metaphysical reflection.
On the poolside terrace, Nikomachi Karakostanoglou's luminous marble sculptures appear between Amanzoe’s grand colonnades. Inspired by ancient votive forms, her intuitive approach explores the relationship between light and material, inviting tactile contemplation. The works, taken from her Sacred Vessels series, reflect on memory, regeneration and the continuity of human ritual across generations.
Completing the exhibition, Despina Flessa exhibits aluminium sculptures from her Fossils and Shades collection within the Library, alongside graphite drawings from Folding Landscapes. Drawing on archaeology and imagination, her practice touches on the themes of presence and absence, preservation and loss. Her works evoke a sense of what is unearthed and reimagined, offering a meditation on time’s complex traces.
Through the collaboration, Amanzoe continues its role as a cultural conduit, offering guests not only sanctuary, but also meaningful connection to Greece’s evolving creative landscape.
