Welcome the Lunar New Year
Across Asia, preparations are underway to celebrate the fifth animal sign of the Chinese zodiac: the dragon, symbolising energy, creativity and transformation. As festivities build towards the main event on 10 February, 2024, a host of surprises await at Aman properties in China and beyond. Reunion meals, lantern lighting and a host of age-old traditions will help mark this auspicious event – a chance to celebrate the months just past and look ahead to a year of good fortune.
At Amanyangyun outside Shanghai, a festive parade and dance will welcome in the Year of the Dragon, followed by tree lighting and a special dinner. At Amandayan, in Lijiang’s Unesco-listed Old Town, lanterns will be hung, calligraphy classes held and local Naxi dishes served.
Across the rest of Asia, dinner will be hosted under the new moon’s atmospheric light at Amansara in Cambodia and Amantaka in Laos. Meanwhile, Amanoi will celebrate Vietnam’s take on the traditional Lunar New Year with Tet Festival movie nights, afternoon teas, multi-course meals and mindful Buddhist blessings.
