Lunar New Year at Amankora

Hiking Trails and Mountain Biking
Each of Amankora’s five lodges provides direct access to a variety of scenic hiking and biking trails across Bhutan.
White Water Rafting
Choose a gentle float down the Mo Chuu River or tackle the faster flowing Pho Chu. A choice of kayaking or rafting offers a unique adventure and an alternative view of Bhutan’s varied landscapes.
Archery

High Altitude Golf
Golfing on Bhutan’s only course offers a unique game, with the Thimphu Dzong providing a dramatic backdrop. This challenging nine-hole course is situated at 7,700 feet (2,350 metres) above sea level, with tee times easily arranged.

Potato Shed Dinner at Gangtey
Dine in Gantey’s own stone potato shed, built to house the local farmers’ harvest. Surrounded by flickering candles, it makes the perfect setting for a romantic dinner.
Forest and Fortress Dinner at Paro
Dine on authentic cuisine under the stars in a pine forest overlooking the historic Drukgyel Dzong. Tables can be set in a clearing or under a traditional, lantern-litl Bhutanese tent.
Riverside Barbecue at Punakha
Enjoy a private barbecue lunch or dinner at the edge of the Mo Chhu River surrounded by pine forest and mountain views.
Forest and Stream Dinner at Thimphu

Bhutanese Name-Giving Ceremony at Sey Lhakhang
Bhutanese names reflect the country’s cultural emphasis on the equality of all individuals. Recieve your own in a private, monk-led ceremony at Sey Lakhang monastery.
Paro
Bhutanese Wedding Vow Renewal
Exchange traditional white scarves and take part in ritualistic butter lamp lighting to dispel darkness, bringing wisdom and compassion before a spiritual cleansing and holy water blessing is performed by monks in the temple.
Gangtey
Spiritual Cleansing (Buddhist Fumigation)
Across the Kingdom it is believed that every place has its local protective spirit. To please them the Bhutanese fumigate every morning in a herb-burning ritual that removes bad spirits and brings good luck. Come together in the early morning at our stupa to perform a monk-led cleansing ceremony, designed to remove bad spirits and bring good luck.

Offering a Meal to the Monks
Accompany our chef to purchase ingredients before joining the preparations and taking part in the service of a meal to one of 270 monks that reside at the Goemba/Shedra Monastic Schools.
Available at select temples across five valleys
Butter Lamp Lighting
Dispel darkness in this traditional ceremony which can be experienced in several temples, monasteries and dzongs. A deeply meditative experience, aiding focus and reflection.
Bumthang
Fire Blessing Ceremony at Jambay Lhakhang
Visit Jambay Lhakhang, a 7th-century temple, for a sacred ceremony where Lamas chant invokes divine energy while a ceremonial fire symbolises purification and spiritual rebirth.
