Dappled by the bright saffron of monk’s robes and the vivid emerald of tea plants, Amanfayun occupies the remnants of a fayun – village – in the countryside near Hangzhou’s West Lake, a Unesco World Heritage Site. Surrounded by tea plantations and seven temples, the secluded setting promotes a slower, peaceful pace; the trickle of a nearby stream and the ringing of temple bells are all that will interrupt a bamboo massage, a calligraphy lesson or tea tasting
