The three-week calendar of special events runs from beach barbecue dinners in mid-December to the Russian Orthodox Christmas celebration on 7 January. Returning seasonal guests will enjoy Amanpuri’s much-cherished traditions, including the White Starlight Beach Dinner on Christmas Eve, an elegant all-white banquet on the sand with live music; the legendary NYE gala dinner and afterparty – this year headlined by Cyndi Lauper – and a series of special culinary evenings exploring cuisines from Mexican to Moroccan.

Amanyara

Amanyara presents a seasonal calendar of nature experiences, cultural activities, celebratory dinners and children’s pursuits. Take part in eco-hikes, guided snorkelling trips and kayaking expeditions, and learn how to identify the myriad species of the Caribbean Sea with resident marine biologist Clare Atkinson. New Year’s Eve is one of the highlights of the Amanyara year, and 2019 ends with an 007-inspired celebration packed with magic, martinis, and DJ Maggy Smiss seeing the celebration through to midnight and beyond.

The festive season on Pamalican Island is a heady mix of spirituality, sport, creativity and cuisine, kicking off with an exclusive kitesurfing adventure to Manamoc Island on the 22nd. Each day culminates in a gala dining experience – from the Kaiseki Full Moon Dinner at Nama on the 23rd, to Italian Night at the Beach Club on the 29th. Aman Le Melezin

Against the Alpine snowscape of Le Trois Vallées, Aman Le Melezin provides a quintessentially festive setting. On the 24th, Chef Keiji prepares preparing a special celebratory Japanese dinner, ending with live music and sweets by the fire. He’s back with another banquet on New Year’s Eve – the prefect prelude to the famous fireworks of Courchevel – best seen for the Salon Bar.

Hit the slopes at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort – including on Christmas Day – then eat and drink in full festive style back at Amangani. In-house naturalist Jared Paul is in residence to host talks and bring the extraordinary winter-bound wilderness to life. Mark New Year's Eve with Jackson Hole’s annual Torchlight Parade, accompanied by champagne, before the party continues with live music and a DJ back at the resort.

Amangiri

The desert landscape surrounding Lake Powell takes on a new magic in winter, best discovered on guided hikes from Amangiri, held daily over the festive period. Outdoor adventures are complemented with special culinary experiences and Navajo cultural demonstrations, with each eventful day of the holidays ending with drinks in the lounge and s’mores by the fire. On New Year’s Eve, musician Nat Robinson and his band provide the soundtrack to an evening of decadent buffet dining, champagne and Navajo hoop dancing.

Winter is when the city on the water is at its most romantic, with quiet laneways, morning mists on the canals, and the sound of song emanating from baroque basilicas. At Aman Venice, Christmas is celebrated with seasonal afternoon teas, intimate dining experiences and the traditional Boxing Day Walk to Sant Elena and the Peggy Guggenheim collection. Aman Tokyo

This year’s festivities take on special significance as Aman Tokyo celebrates its fifth anniversary on 22 December. The hotel’s restaurants will be serving specially crafted seasonal menus throughout December, including traditional Italian festive dishes in Arva and Edomae-style sushi and sake at Musashi. On the evening of the 31st, Arva transforms into a party venue, with samurai performances, casino games, DJs and dancing all taking place in the run-up to midnight. The next morning, staff perform the traditional kagami-biraki and ceremony, breaking open a fresh sake barrel to share with guests.
